An Ad Was Recently Pulled In The UK For Implying That Gambling Will Make Man More Successful With The Ladies

Business, Communication.

The online gambling double standard - an ad was recently pulled in the uk for implying that gambling will make man more successful with the ladies. The ad was pulled after the Advertising Standards Authority( ASA) determined that the billboard was inappropriate, yet this add is no different that every other advertisement out there today. The add was nothing more then a billboard showing a dwarf smoking a cigar with 2 beautiful girls on each side of him sitting in a Limousine with the tag line" Who says you can' t make money being short? " But the ad has been pulled because some feel it gives the message that online gambling will increase your sexual prowess and make you more attractive to the ladies.

Getting on a bus or subway and you will be bombarded with images of sexy girls dressed provocatively holding some product. - the message is always the same buy this and get or become this. The product is irrelevant it can be for something for women or men. This marketing strategy has been the standard for more years then I can remember, but as soon as it is applied to gambling it is deemed to be inappropriate. Yet commercials for movies like jackass which show many stunts much worse then this one are allowed to show on television but when it' s about gambling suddenly it' s inappropriate. A TV ad for the same company was also pulled after the ASA determined that a dwarf put inside a giant die and rolled down a hill was likely to appeal to children so to keep the kids safe from gambling the ad needed to be removed from television. Is this because the stunt is dangerous and we don' t want kids to imitate this stunt or that we do not want kids to start gambling.

All across the world many countries have this same double standard that gambling should be allowed because of the money it generates, but it should be viewed as a shameful. - many alcohol commercials show images that may seem attractive to kids but they do not get pulled because drinking is illegal anyone under 21 and gambling is illegal to anyone under 18, but for some reason what is ok for alcohol is once again inappropriate if it relates to online casino gambling. This is a sentiment that seems to go back several hundred years to the day when the church was the law. If you have a drinking problem they will now say you have a disease but if you have a gambling problem you are seen as weak and not worthy of help or assistance. Games of risk were seen as against the church and were seen as heretics, and shunned from main stream society and these sentiments are still seen today. In the year 2008 we have to stop with this type of discrimination.

If it is ok for sex to sell us our beer, cars and clothing then why is it not just as good for our online casino to do the same?
